• Eltag Elkhalifa

    Eltag manages the Waterloo Region Connectors program by engaging with business, government and community leaders in Waterloo Region.

    Eltag moved to Canada in 1993 from Sudan following the military coup. He holds a BSc. in Economics from the University of Gezira. Eltag has lived and worked in Waterloo Region since 1998.

    In his spare time he enjoys travelling, hiking and reading books on politics, history and culture.

  • Dave Thomas

    Dave helps newcomers build their professional networks.

    Dave grew up in southern Ontario and studied at the University of Western Ontario, where he attained a BA in political science and MA in journalism. Before starting at WR Connectors in September 2017, he worked at The Working Centre for 14 years helping newcomers get established in the workforce, and has been active in many community-building efforts.

    In his spare time, Dave likes spending time with family and friends, reading, running and listening to classic rock music, especially the Beatles.

  • Jay Palani

    Jay is an Internationally Trained Teacher from South Africa.

    After arriving in Canada, she completed a post graduate diploma in Career Development.

    This led to her career as an employment counsellor helping newcomers navigate the Canadian Labour Market.

    She is passionate about creating a community where people of different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences can learn and benefit from each other.

    Her current role in the Waterloo Region Connectors program allows her to pursue her passion to help people connect.

    In her spare time, Jay enjoys travelling, long walks in nature and listening to music.

  • Mac Summers

    Mac helps spread the word about Waterloo Region Connectors throughout the community.

    He moved to Waterloo Region in 2013 after living in the Hamilton area for nearly 30 years. A self-described “Creative Guy” he holds an MBA in Finance from McMaster University (BA, MBA), and also works in the film and television industry. On weekends, you’ll find him behind a set of synthesizers playing with his 80’s band, Smile’N’Wave.
